The 220 model (a sledge for hiking)

My team grows. Both quantitatively and qualitatively. Its possibilities are changing. If before these shaggy faces only me the most was being driven, so now some cargo can be in a sledge transporting. And the thought about a certain traveling on dogs increasingly visits me. No people around, no cars. Nor walking deaf, from which it is necessary to turn away the sledge. Nor horses, which under the form of us, resoundingly knock their riders about the pine. Nor fences, on which there are dents from my runners now. In short, some will was wanted. The starry sky, a fire, some curiously cosmic thoughts, baked potatoes.

Well, I was going hiking in new, unknown lands. Made a suitable sledge. Bought a down jacket, warm pants, a tent, fuel for dogs, a chemical heater, a snack to it. In general, such a dog sledge turned out. Weight 20 kilo, the volume of the canopy 220-230 liters, width 58, length 230 overall, 150 from the nose to the rear edge of the platform, height 95 cm.

The canopy is one-volume and has four outer pockets - two for long items such as a stake or tripod bowler, two more - for any little things that should be at hand. On the frame on the sides of small hanging bags. I will find out for what it is, because a Holy place is never empty. The main thing is to save the canopy and yourself, so nervous, from searching it for all sorts of small objects. The sledge is folded in 2 minutes, in the folded state the height is 35 cm, if the anchors are left in the

mounts-40 cm.

Winter 2017-18 will cut this product, check for handling, strength and usefulness.

I think this is the first sledge from the future line of my sledges of this plan. They will differ in the purposes of application and, as a consequence, in the volume of the canopy and load capacity.

This product has a canopy volume of 220 and, accordingly, the weight tolerance of about one hundred kg. Under “weight tolerance” I understand not the how many can be loaded on a standing a sledge and it won’t break under it, and with somehow number of correctly distributed cargo a sledge will not break on tilt for a host season, and under this will easily move in turn under average weight of musher.

I will pass on it all my routes, which I pass on my other, lighter products - this is the first. I will subject it to crash tests - this is the second. May be I’ll make current design amendments.

Defined form of soft brake for 220 - this will asymmetric chevron on reinforced rubber under right pace, because I’m a lover of simplify, and on separate brakes mean habit work only right-wing side mat. Here, as in the rest of my products, the chevrons are deployed not outward, as is customary, but inward. I believe this is more correct to compensate for the turning moment when braking.

Brake Mat

Normal position - lowered and always ready to work, but not dragging in the plane of the runners and collecting snow, and raised a few centimeters at a comfortable height for the right heel, the control knob on the right. In the raised position it gives over the brake bracket quite a large niche, free for almost any shoes appropriate in the campaign.

Hard brake (bracket)

Briefly - a bracket is similar, as have my other sledges, forms, with in parallel worthwhile brake fangs, reinforced rod, providing its non-deflexion under extreme jerky loadings. Brake fangs are with carbide tips.

The angle of the brake fangs is adjustable. I'll show you what it's for later. In the raised position, the body of the brace is higher than the smooth narrow of the sledge, and the movement on the plump does not interfere. With a large amount of snow, if you brake actively, the snow is thrown forward, on the canopy, so in front of the bracket is a shield, which is both a fastener for a tourist tool - an axe, a

hacksaw, etc.

This is the option that I now suffer.

In addition it assumes a lightweight version of the bracket, with a slimmer body and a fixed position of the teeth.

The chosen length of the teeth is finally determined. I think there will be no significant changes. Even in deep snow, they normally reach the dense ground.

On 220th you can ride passengers. As an additional option, not included in the basic package, a seat with a backrest is offered. It is suspended on the frame of the sledge in such a way that a person sitting on it, almost does not load his weight on the loading platform. Only his feet are on the platform - but it cannot even be considered a load. The seat itself can withstand the weight of any person, if it is placed between the uprights.

The seat is removed and put in one minute. Anchors thus - one is removed from a sledge absolutely, the second is placed under a seat on a platform. It is not necessary to remove the canopy to install the seat. It is simply released from the top attachment and placed on the pad. But the side bags will have to be removed - they are Velcro, a second thing.

In 220th there is a guard which covers a platform from snow flying from under a brake bracket. It also serves for fixing various necessary, in my opinion, tools. Well, you never know what can happen while hiking.

Each musher’s (tourist’s) these tools are their own. The most beloved, comfortable, familiar. Therefore, he will install the fastening harnesses under them himself, most rationally placing his set on the shield. I just sent the flap with quality retinogram and ties.
